Pimpri-Chinchwad: The flyover work at Rakshak Chowk in Pimple Nilakh along the Aundh-Ravet BRTS road has entered its final stage and is expected to soon make travel from Aundh to Kiwale signal-free, officials announced on Thursday.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s (PCMC) standing committee chairman Abhishek Barne said that the project is also expected to reduce traffic congestion and improve travel time on the busy Sangvi-Kiwale route.

Review Conducted By MLA

A review inspection of the project was recently conducted under the guidance of Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A meeting with officials was later held at the public relations office in Pimple Gurav to discuss the progress of the work and future planning.

Speaking about the project, Barane said the flyover would make travel from Aundh to Sangvi Phata and from Ravet onwards to Kiwale smoother and free from major traffic signals. He added that the civic administration is working to complete the project at the earliest while maintaining quality and safety standards.

Remaining Work On War Footing…

Present during the inspection were corporators Aarti Chondhe and Sneha Kalate; PCMC Chief Engineer Pramod Ombhase; social activists Sanket Chondhe, Prasad Kaspate and Sunny Barane; along with officials from concerned departments.

Rakshak Chowk is considered one of the key traffic junctions in the city and often witnesses heavy congestion. During the inspection, officials discussed plans to complete the remaining work on a war footing.

Special focus was also placed on the planning of BRT bus operations connected to the flyover. Officials were instructed to give top priority to the safety and convenience of bus passengers. Directions were also issued to immediately conduct a safety audit of the bridge railings and the entire structure before opening it for public use.

‘Strict Instructions Given Regarding Safety Audit’

According to civic officials, the flyover is expected to save commuters considerable travel time and fuel costs. Traffic movement on the Sangvi-Kiwale BRT corridor is also expected to become faster after the project is completed.

Barane said the municipal corporation is committed to improving infrastructure and ensuring smooth transportation facilities across Pimpri-Chinchwad.

“We have reviewed the project under the guidance of MLA Shankar Jagtap and are planning to open the bridge for citizens as soon as possible. Strict instructions have been given regarding the safety audit to ensure safe and comfortable travel for commuters. We remain committed to the sustainable development and smooth transportation of Pimpri-Chinchwad,” said Abhishek Barane.
