Vasai : Members of a Ganesh festival organising committee in Vasai were booked by Manikpur Police on Friday for staging an alleged vulgar dance show in their pandal, which resembled an ambience of a dance bar. Along with the committee members, two female performers with their crew members and four others who had been part of the cheering crowd and also danced with the girls, also have been booked.
The worst part was that people threw currency notes on the dancers and danced along with them, allegedly in a drunken state, forgetting the fact that it was a religious occasion. The dancers performed on sleazy Bhojpuri and Hollywood item songs with loud music bothering the people living in the neighbourhood even after 10pm, breaking the existing rules set by Maharashtra Police. All of them have been booked under section 294 of the IPC.
