Mumbai : The session’s court on Thursday rejected the anticipatory bail application of self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa in connection with the case of dowry harassment.
The police filed a case against her on August 5 for instigating in-laws of a 32-year-old woman to harass her for dowry.
Fearing arrest, Radhe Maa filed the pre-arrest bail application on Wednesday.
Both Radhe Maa and her lawyer claimed that she was being framed up. However, the complainant’s lawyer advocate Sunny Wasker argued that Radhe Maa was an important person and she had instigated the family. Ever since the complaint was lodged, his client was getting threat calls, he claimed.
Problems galore
Meanwhile, a Thane based NGO has claimed that the Jaguar car in which Radhe Maa travelled during her recent visit to Aurangabad was purchased using fake documents. The NGO has written a letter to the Thane city police and Thane Regional Transport Office in this connection, claiming that the car, which was bought for Rs 96 lakh, was registered in March 2012, it said.
Also, the Maharashtra Charity Commissioner has initiated an inquiry into Radhe Maa’s charitable trust after a complaint was filed to look into the legality of the trust. A complaint has also been filed with the Income Tax department seeking a probe on her source of income.
What’s more, another complaint was filed against Radhe Maa on Wednesday at Borivali police station for allegedly promoting superstition and for practicing ‘indecent behaviour’.
The airport director at Aurangabad too has ordered a probe into the incident Radhe Maa carrying a foot-long metal trident, on a flight. Frequent fliers had raised objections to Radhe Maa being allowed to carry the ‘trishul’ on board the Jet Airways’ Aurangabad-Mumbai flight on Sunday at 6.50am.
