Several organisers are also under scanner for breaching noise pollution norms
Bhayandar : Three organisers in Mira Bhayandar have been booked by the Thane (rural) police for exceeding height limits during Dahi Handi celebrations in Mira Bhayandar.
Govinda teams, which participated in the event, have also been named in the complaints which have been registered under sections 188, 336 of the IPC and section 140 of the Bombay Police Act. According to the police, several organisers are also under the scanner of investigations for breaching noise pollution norms. “We had recorded the sound levels at the venue a day prior to the event and on the actual celebration time on Thursday to check the difference in decibel levels. This will help us to register water tight cases and take legal action against mandals that flouted prescribed noise levels,” said a police officer.
The permissible noise level is around 50 decibel.
While a number of motorcycles were seen with three to four riders, most without helmets, many heavy vehicles packed with Govindas were moving from one venue to the other in the twin-city. Some Govindas waved black flags to register their protest.
