Thane: The crime unit V of Wagle Estate, acting on a tip-off, succeded in arresting one person who was carrying 110 kg of cannabis in his Tempo. The tempo was coming from Bhiwandi towards Thane for selling the contraband.
Senior police inspector Vikas Ghodke of Crime Unit V Wagle Estate said, " Our team acting on a tip-off laid a trap near Kapurbawdi fire station at around 9 pm on Thursday, July 7 and intercepted a tempo. The team searched the tempo and found 10 gunny sacks containing the contraband. We arrested tempo driver Ambalal Jagdish Jat and seized cannabis worth Rs 11 lakh from him on Friday."
Ghodke further added, "Apart from Rs 11 lakh cannabis, we have taken into our custody the tempo model Tata Ace number MH-04/HS-1485, mobile and also cash from them so overall we have recovered Rs 16,07,620 from them. We have registered a case under The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) in this regard and further investigating the case. "
