BJP party chief says training of party workers essential for democracy
Mumbai : Training of party cadre and mass outreach are essential to strengthen the party along with internal democracy, BJP president Amit Shah told his party workers, while addressing the zonal meeting for party’s ‘Maha Sampark Abhiyan’ here on Thursday. Contrary to expectations, he did not even mention the scams and allegations against the party ministers.
After the success of its membership drive, the BJP has now focused on training of party cadre. “The training and mass outreach mission is essential for strengthening the party. We are also the only party to observe true internal democracy. With the help of all these, the party would stay in power right from the panchayat to the Central government for many more years to come,” Shah said.
Shah also emphasised on the achievements of the Union government during his speech and said that with the several schemes announced if party workers reach out to people effectively, it would lift the spirits of the common man and would strengthen the roots of the party.
Choosing to skip any reference to troubles plaguing BJP including Vyapam scam, Shah, who completed one year at the helm of the organisation on Thursday, also claimed that his is the only party in the country which works on the principle of internal democracy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made the country proud by raising India’s stature in the world, he said.
Emphasising on the need to ensure probity in the functioning of various party-run outfits, he said “what I want to tell you is that the position of trusts run by the party is not sound. I want you all to file the balance sheet of these trusts with the Charity commissioner within stipulated time,” he said.
Shah asked party workers to strengthen the organisation from the basics driven by grass-root level activists. “We have to build our corpus fund so strong and transparent that after five years our party is run with the interest on the corpus fund and not by tycoons,” he said. The BJP chief also interacted with MPs, MLAs and party office-bearers of states including from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa.
At today’s meet, Shah skipped controversial issues like scam allegations faced by state BJP ministers. Maharashtra Minister of state for Home Ram Shinde told reporters that the BJP chief did not speak ‘anything at all’ on ‘scams’.
