Thane : In a massive demolition drive on Saturday, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) razed more than 100 structures, most of them illegal.
The drive, which began in the morning, was undertaken to make way for a service road on the busy Ghodbunder Road which links the city with the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway.
According to a TMC release, more than a hundred structures were demolished under heavy police protection.
Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal, along with senior officials of the civic body supervised the drive which was initially opposed by some of the occupants.
