Mumbai : Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that his government is different from the previous governments when it comes to taking decisions. “We have taken decisions,” he said as he put a sort of account of past six months of the government for the readers of FPJ.
“I don’t feel that the six months’ time is sufficient to evaluate any government. But, one thing is clear, we have proved that ours is a government that is taking decisions. We are taking decisions and have started implementing each one of them. The results might not be visible immediately,” Fadnavis said.
He also said that the government has already acted upon 44 of the major things that were promised in the ‘Vision Document’ before the elections. “The decisions like making the state ‘Toll Free’ are not yet complete. But, we have taken the decision. Our direction is very clear,” Fadnavis added.
While making a mention of the difficulties that the government faced, Fadnavis said, “The legacy we received from the previous government too was pathetic. The whole of administrative setup had been derailed in past 15 years. We got financially very week state. And in addition to that it followed a major agricultural disaster. In spite of this we have performed.”
“We gave as much funds to the agriculture in past six months as the previous government had given in past five years. And even in that we are trying for the sustainable things. We started the ‘Jalayukta Shivar’ programme. It is being implemented in 6,000 villages and it has become a movement kind of a thing. People have accepted it as their own programme. These things denote change,” he said.
When asked why the administration still appears lethargic, Fadnavis denied that the condition is such. “There has been a lot of change in the administration. It is getting geared up and will need some time to get into pace. This has one more reason. The administration had become used to political pressure in last 15 years. This has killed their drive, their motivation. We are giving them freedom. We have decentralised the powers till the last man in the administration. But, along with the authority, they are also being given responsibilities. We are ensuring that they will be made accountable. The process has already begun. The actual speed of the administration might be visible in another six months. The Right to Services Act that we have brought in too will have its effect,” he said.
