To ensure the seamless execution of this initiative, a crucial meeting was held on October 20, bringing together the Education Officer, Center Coordinators of the Education Department, pathologists, and laboratory technicians from public hospitals in Vashi, Airoli, and Nerul.

Over 44,000 Students To Be Benefitted

In this expansive campaign, a total of 44,269 students are set to undergo blood group testing. To oversee this effort, pathologists from public hospitals in Vashi, Airoli, and Nerul have been appointed as nodal officers. Additionally, laboratory technicians from these respective hospitals and medical officers associated with the National Child Health Program have been tasked with supervisory responsibilities.

In the planning phase of this campaign, each nodal officer has been allocated a specific number of students to oversee. Dr. Shubhangi Muneshwar is responsible for 14,458 students in Vashi, Dr. Vishwajit Patil is in charge of 14,240 students at Maasaheb Minatai Thackeray Hospital in Nerul, and Dr. Prajakta Kulkarni is overseeing the blood group testing of 15,571 students at Rajmata Jijau Hospital in Airoli.

For the NMMC area, a total of 20 inspection teams are in operation, each comprised of a laboratory technician and an assistant laboratory technician. In this system, blood samples are collected by the assistant technician, while the laboratory technician determines the blood group. On the first day of blood grouping, 4,303 students underwent testing.

Teachers Given Full Responsibility

The responsibility of ensuring that all students undergo blood group testing lies with the school teachers, who have been directed to ensure that all current students participate. The Health Department is entrusted with conducting the blood group tests and forwarding the results to the Center Coordinator of the Education Department, endorsed by the Nodal Officer/Pathologist. Importantly, this blood group testing is provided free of charge.
