Navi Mumbai: The Panvel Municipal Corporation has issued preseizure notices to 750 defaulters who have not paid property tax. So far, notices have been issued to 100 industrial properties, 301 residential properties and 349 commercial properties. Eight teams have been formed in four nodes of Kharghar, Kalamboli, Kamothe and Panvel.

The civic body, which has so far collected Rs200 crore by way of property tax, has undertaken several developmental works and is stepping up revenue collection to finance them. It is therefore creating awareness among citizens about the need to pay property tax through loudspeakers fitted to auto-rickshaws that go around the city.

Dicsount Announced For Online Tax Payers

The corporation is also giving a 2% discount to property owners if they pay tax online through its ‘PMCTAX APP’. Deputy municipal commissioner Ganesh Shete said, “The property tax department has appealed to citizens to mention the property ID (UPIC ID) while buying and selling. This will also help them know if the previous owner has paid the tax.”

“Teams will be increased to issue notices to high defaulters in all sectors,” said Assistant Civic Commissioner Sangram Roharkate.
