Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar held a joint meeting of civic officials and CIDCO officials and directed them to complete the process of transferring space meant for disabled persons for self-employment from CIDCO to the corporation within 10 days. He also requested the planning agency for additional space for new stalls for the disabled.
During the meeting, officials from CIDCO including social service officer and NMMC’s property department officials were present.
CIDCO has provided space for stalls for the self-employment of persons with disabilities at 104 locations in the NMMC area. The general body of NMMC has also approved the proposal to provide space for stalls for the self-employment of the disabled.
However, the spaces have not been transferred to the corporation despite a number of correspondences. In order to sort out the issue, Bangar held a joint meeting of concerned officials from the CIDCO and corporation and asked to complete the process of transfer within 10 days with mutual coordination.
Meanwhile, Bangar also requested CIDCO to provide 22 suitable plots for 175 new stalls as per the demand of persons/institutions with disabilities to the NMMC. He also directed the property department of the corporation to follow up the work expeditiously. He also suggested that a policy should be decided on behalf of CIDCO to sort out the pending issue of group stalls by mutual consent.
“NMMC is known all over the country for implementing various welfare activities for the disabled. Therefore, the civic body is also positive about providing space for stalls for self-employment of persons with disabilities,” said Bangar.
