Nagpur: The topic of rising intolerance in the current scenario took centre stage at the 99th Marathi Natya Sammelan, which was held in Nagpur. In the Natya Sammelan there was a jugalbandi between Premanand Gajvi, the Chairperson and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
During his opening remarks, Gajvi had broached the subject of intolerance seen in India nowadays. On the next day, Fadnavis brushed aside Gajvi’s concerns and said there was only one instance of intolerance in this country, the Emergency, in 1975.
Shocked by this address, on the concluding day, Gajvi yet again raised the subject of the growing intolerance. “Tolerance is not just a spoken word, but it has to be imbibed and its evidence should be seen in daily life. Then only can you call it tolerance,” Gajvi said. He further said, there are two sides of a coin. But they actually have five sides.
“Politicians are not my enemies, they are just like any other person with whom we are connected. Taking from what Fadnavis has said, if there is so much tolerance in our society, then we should have practical evidence of it,” said Gajvi. The 99th edition of Marathi Natya Sammelan began on Sunday.
