Mumbai : In a major boost to the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) and Forest Advisory Committee (FAC) of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) gave its go ahead.
Declaring the news of securing clearances, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tweeted that his government achieved major breakthroughs in months while previous governments failed to do so for decades.
Fadnavis tweeted, “Series of great news: Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) forest & environmental clearance issued.” He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MoEF Minister Prakash Javadekar. He added: “What the previous governments did not do for decades, our government did in just few months with GoI’s support. Yet another milestone crossed!” Meanwhile, Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) officials said the MoEF will send a formal approval in a few days. A senior MMRDA official said, “The EAC has given its go-ahead, now the ministry will send us a formal approval for the project in few days. We are told that it has been granted it on the issue of forest diversion too, but we are yet to receive any formal communication yet.”
