Mumbai: Two days after an unidentified woman’s severed head was found in a partially charred state on an open plot at Ghansoli in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, the mystery over her missing body continues. Rabale Police are yet to recover the body and identify the woman.
However, police said they had found a few bottles of liquor and a mattress at the spot, which indicates the area was used as an illicit liquor den.
A day after discovering a severed, charred head on an open plot in Ghansoli on Tuesday, Rabale Police canvassed the area and came across an illicit liquor den. Police suspect the users of liquor den may have seen the killer dispose of the severed head.
Police have scrutinised the CCTV camera footage of the area, but detected no suspicious activity which could have helped them identify the killer. Rabale Police have sought help from the fire brigade to locate the body, which they feel, could have been dumped in the thick forests along the Palm Beach Road in Ghansoli.
Police have booked unidentified person/s under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for murder (section 302) and causing disappearance of evidence of offence (section 201). “Since the open ground is visited by many for morning and evening walks, along with youth who play cricket here, the list of suspects is too big,” said an officer.
