The officials of crime branch unit 9 raided a premises at Vakola in Santacruz (E) and busted a milk adulteration racket on Tuesday morning.
Police have arrested a 51-year-old man, wherein they had acted on a tip off about a milk adulteration taxjet being underway. Police found that the accused had slightly cut the tip of the milk pouches of various brands, emptied them in a pot and mixed them with unhygienic water, which could be unhealthy for consumption.
A seizure of wax candles, test tubes, lighter, stove pin, blade was made, along with 176 litres of adulterated milk was made . The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for adulteration of food and drink for sale (section 272), using false property mark (section 482), counterfeiting property mark used by other (section 483), cheating (section 420) and forgery (section 468) along with the Food and Safety Standards Act.
