Mumbai: Corporators demand relaxation of MCC

With just one phase of polling left in the current elections, the code of conduct continues as the election results are still awaited. Shiv Sena corporator Raju Pednekar said that enough of the code of conduct and demanded that the pending works of roads and nullahs should be started as soon as possible. Pednekar cited the example of relaxation given to the state government to undertake drought relief measures. Then why can’t BMC have the privilege?

Further, he said that the code of conduct for the upcoming assembly election will also come into effect very soon, then how and when will people will get rid of their problems. BJP corporator Jyoti Alavani raised the same issue. She said that she is answerable to the people of her ward as they are facing water scarcity.

Corporator Ashraf Azmi said that just a few days left for monsoon and during rains people have to face various problems like potholes, water scarcity, gutters etc. In such conditions the corporators have to answer people in their wards. Rajendra Chore, Deputy Commissioner, Property Department, said that he convey the message to the commissioner about the relaxation of code of conduct.
