Mumbai: BMC prohibits heavy, big vehicles on Mithi bridge

Mumbai: The BMC bridges departmentBMC bridges department has erected height barriers on both sides and ends of the Mithi bridges on Aarey road. The move follows the recommendations of the structural audit by M/s Construma Consultancy Pvt Ltd. The structural audit of the Mithi river bridge was conducted in S ward, including Kanjur Marg, Bhandup, Powai, Ramabai Nagar, Nahur and Vikhroli.

In fact, the report prohibited the vehicles weighing more than five tonnes and over 2.5 metres on the bridge. The audit report also suggested to erect height barriers on both the sides. To avoid any accident, the BMC has erected height barriers on both the sides and ends of the bridge, which are likely to affect the vehicular movement, especially heavy vehicles plying on this bridge.
