A 16-year-old girl was found dead at her home in Malvani area of Malad (W) on Thursday. The Malvani police have registered a case of Accident Death Report (ADR) in this incident, and are probing the matter from all angles as the teen's hands and legs were tied with a cloth, raising suspicion.

Police officials said that the teen, who was alone at the time of the incident allegedly died by suicide. Police reached the spot, but were baffled as they found that the girl's hands and legs were tied. While an ADR was recorded, police did not recover any suicide note from the spot.

An official said that they have recorded statements of the teen's parents, her friends and other people who were close to her, to probe the reason. Police said she was found dead by her younger sister, who alerted her parents. The teen was rushed to the hospital where she was declared dead before arrival.

Police have sent the body for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
