As heavy rains lashed the twin-city, a huge tree crashed on a parked auto-rickshaw in the Golden Nest area of Bhayandar (east) on Thursday afternoon.
“The 42-year-old auto-rickshaw driver identified as Shailesh Pal who was seated in his vehicle was fortunate to escape with minor injuries,” said MBMC’s chief fire officer Prakash Borade.
However, the auto-rickshaw was badly damaged in the incident.

Apart from stray tree fall cases, no major untoward incidents were reported on Thursday as the entire district machinery including the disaster management cell and fire emergency services attached to the Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC) remained on high alert.
