Aurangabad: June marks the beginning of the sowing season for farmers. This year, July has already begun, but no such activity is evident in parts of Marathwada, Aurangabad and other regions. The land is too parched and rains are nowhere in sight, yet.

Major dams in Marathwada have hit dead stock and currently, this is the water being used for drinking. Ironically, there are incessant rains lashing Mumbai and in Konkan, reservoirs are filling up, even as they continue to run dry in parts of Marathwada. In 11 major dams of Marathwada, the stock has dwindled to -10.34 per cent.
