Mumbai : Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has reportedly shot down a proposal of including renovation of Mantralaya Annexe along with the ongoing renovation of the main building. He has asked the concerned authorities to float a separate tender for the same.
Even as Chavan reviewed the ongoing renovation work at Mantralaya which is half way through, the NCP controlled PWD department is pushing for the renovation of the Annexe building which was not ravaged in the June fire last year.
With the State facing a serious fund crunch, Chavan is in no mood to the concept of clubbing Annexe work in the ongoing project. It is clearly a tactic to bypass the tender process aimed at helping Unity Infra. Now the renovation plan will be put forward before Cabinet and later a tender may be issued.
New Design, Asiatic Look
The front side of Mantralaya will look like the Asiatic library as now the front side will have steps connecting directly to the first floor of Mantralaya. Entry from front side will be allowed only to IAS officers. There will be VIP lounge for entry of Ministers at Garden Gate. Officers and employees of Mantralaya will be allowed entry from gates near Aakashwani MLA Hostel and Mirror Gate facing oval ground. This will ensure entry of Ministers, officers, and common man from different gates. There will be double storey underground parking below the existing garden at west side of Mantralaya and it will have capacity of 500 vehicles.
