The state government has decided to allow units engaged in production of materials for the impending rainy season and shops that sell or repair umbrellas, plastic sheets, tarpaulins or raincoats.

The order issued recently says the shops and units related to any material that is required for repair or strengthening of safety of structures that are affected by cyclone during 15th May to 20th May as well as those that are likely to be affected in the impending monsoon season can remain open.

These production units and shops will have to confirm Covid appropriate behaviour or the disaster management authorities may impose a fine of Rs 10,000 on any defaulter individual or shop or unit. They may be asked to close down till the ongoing partial lockdown ends, the state disaster management authority has warned.

The state has already relaxed norms for the hardware shops in view of the demands made by manufacturers and shop owners.
