The India Meteorological Department (IMD), on July 6, has issued an orange for India's financial capital city, Mumbai. It has predicted 'moderate to heavy rain' in the city and its suburbs over the next 24 hours.
Heavy rain continues to batter Maharashtra, including cities like Mumbai, Palghar, Thane, Raigarh, Pune, Ratnagiri, Beed, Jalna, Latur, and others. The heavy rainfall has affected several places with waterlogging, flood-like situation, landslides amid IMD's prediction of intense rain till July 8.
NDRF teams deployed
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is also closely monitoring the situation and has directed the administration to take precautions. Simultaneously, teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have also been deployed in areas witnessing heavy rainfall, for carrying out relief operations if required.
Reportedly, five teams of NDRF are deployed in Mumbai, and one team each is stationed in Nagpur, Raigad's Mahad, Ratnagiri's Chiplun, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Thane municipal area.
The Shinde-led administration has also stationed two NDRF teams in Kolhapur. Thus, a total of 12 NDRF teams are deployed in the state.
