Mumbai : Saurabh Singh, son of a motorman in Indian Railways, scored 269 marks out of total 500 and secured 5th rank on national and first in the state level in the Scheduled Castes (SC) category in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Advanced).
JEE (Advanced) 2015 results were announced on Wednesday. This year too, the JEE was held in two phases. The first phase was (JEE Mains) held on April 4, 2014 in which 1.5 lakh students were shortlisted for JEE (Advanced). These 1.5 lakh students had appeared for exam on May 24, 2015 for the odd 10,000 seats in the premier technical institutes like IITs and ISM across the country.
Saurabh, student of St Jude High School in Kalyan (East), said “It is a proud moment for me and my family. I am feeling satisfied.” His father Bhagwan Singh said that he was taking guidance for future course of action to get admission. He said, “Saurabh
wish to go for computer science programme in IIT Bombay.”
Saurabh’s coaching class teacher Mohit Sardana said, “It is a greatest achievement for us and a matter of immense pride that our student has drafted yet another story for FIIT JEE.”
The Mumbai region has topped the country with estimated 6,838 students from the region cleared the examination whereas Madras stood second with 4,928 students cracking the exam.
