Governor pats tribal youths on qualifying as Care Providers

Mumbai: Maharashtra Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao on Tuesday congratulated 24 tribal youths on their successful completion of training programme as Professional Care Providers for senior citizens. The youths were presented certificates by the governor at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday. Congratulating the trained youths, the governor described the initiative of the Tribal Development Department as ‘game changer’ in empowering tribal youths.

The governor said, there is an ever-growing demand for old-age care providers from cities, towns and even small places in view of the growing life expectancy in India and nuclear families. He asked the Tribal Development Department to train more tribal youths as care providers to meet the demand. Thirteen tribal boys and 11 girls from Nashik, Kalwan and Jawhar tribal pockets were trained as care providers under a new-age employment initiative of the Tribal Development Department in association with Grandage Services Pvt Ltd.

The youths will be appointed as care providers in hospitals, old-age homes and also find jobs as personal care providers for the elderly people. –Staff Reporter According to Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Department, 250 tribal youth will be trained under the programme. The youths who have completed education up to SSC and above were provided 3 months of intensive training in 22 essential Nursing skills that are required for providing old age care to senior citizens.
