Mumbai : In yet another drunken driving case in city, a 45-year-old man was arrested by the Nagpada Police for allegedly ramming his speeding car in two cabs and injuring one person on Sunday night.

The accused has been identified as Soheb Bukhari, son of former MLA Ziauddin Bukhari from the Muslim League Party.

The incident took place near the American Express Bakery on Sunday midnight when Soheb was coming from the Nagpada Junction. It is learnt that Soheb was allegedly drunk and was speeding his Swift Car towards Bata Junction and suddenly lost his control over the car and rammed into two cabs which were stationed alongside the road. Both the cabs were badly damaged and the driver of one of the cabs sustained minor injuries in the incident. However, he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local residents present at the spot nabbed Soheb and handed him over to Nagpada Police Station.

After the incident, a medical test was done on Soheb which confirmed him driving under the influence of alcohol. The Police registered a case against him under relevant sections of IPC.

“Soheb was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and rash driving,” said Shivaji Kadam, Senior Inspector, Nagpada Police Station.
