E-Ticketing Scam Strikes Again

Arrested Travel Agent Admits To Generating E-Tickets Using Software Which Manipulated The IRCTC Website And Issued Tickets Faster

Mumbai : The Anti-Tout Squad of Western Railway (WR) nabbed Santosh Surendra Gupta for booking e-tickets by using software which manipulated the IRCTC website. A raid was conducted by the ATS at Santosh Tours and Travels in Nalasopara during which 91 tickets worth Rs 3 lakh were recovered.

During the checking, Gupta accepted that he was generating e-tickets using software which manipulated the IRCTC website and issued tickets faster. Gupta has generated these tickets using fake personal ID and then sold them to travellers at a higher rate. He charged a commuter about Rs 500 to Rs 1000 extra on each confirmed ticket which was issued. Gupta was assisted by Shivpraksh who was also arrested. The 91 tickets issued were on fake personal ID made for 450 passengers. During the raid apart from the tickets, three mobile phones and two laptops were also recovered with cash of Rs 12,000.

The police also recovered seven pass books of State Bank of India of the account belonging to Santosh Gupta which were used for the IRCTC transactions.  Gupta was finally handed over to the RPF at Virar where a case has been registered against him.
