Mumbai: An inebriated man stabbed his father to death at Malad (E) on Sunday evening. According to police, the accused, Ravi Singh (27), came home inebriated and had a heated argument with father Ashok Singh. He took a kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest.
Police said they had a strained father-son relationship, leading to frequent arguments and fights. The two were alcoholics. Over the past six months, they had over 20 fights. On Saturday evening, Ravi came home drunk and picked a fight with his father over a monetary issue. At 5pm, when they were fighting, Ravi took a kitchen knife and stabbed Ashok in the chest. When Ashok cried for help, the neighbours came there and found him lying in a pool of blood.
Soon after the incident, Ravi fled the spot. The neighbours rushed Ashok to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Police were alerted and Ravi was arrested from the neighbourhood. “We’ve booked him under relevant IPC sections for murder and are investigating the matter,” said a senior police inspector.
