Mumbai : The city reported 974 people with dengue-like symptoms in the past six days (October 12-18), who were admitted to various civic hospitals in the city. Civic officers state that the figures of monsoon-related diseases are showing a declining trend. The city reported 40 dengue cases in the past week as compared to 248 dengue cases in the past month, and 202 cases of malaria as against 1,045.
Civic doctors state that they are witnessing more cases of dengue and malaria as compared to swine flu and leptospirosis. The civic report stated that only two swine flu and lepto cases each were reported in civic hospitals in the past week. Meanwhile, 1,426 pregnant women have been administered with swine flu vaccines at various vaccination centres in the city. “People are coming in with high fever and chills but they are also getting cured. Though the cases of suspected dengue are high, the patients are successfully treated and discharged,” said a doctor from a civic hospital.
