Mumbai : The improving bilateral ties between India and China have started showing first signs in distant Wardha district of the state. 15 Chinese students have registered at the Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, in Wardha to learn Hindi language.
Lu Shu Yu a Chinese national who is registered with Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha, told Free Press Journal in broken Hindi, “India has long history and great heritage. To understand it, I must know local language so I am studying Hindi.”
In the pre-independence era and early post-independence era ‘China Centre’ in Visva-Bharati University founded Rabindranath Tagore in Shantiniketan in West Bengal was one of the major attraction for Chinese to learn Hindi. University officials are optimistic that students exchange will strengthen the culture bond and heritage ties between two countries, which suffered major setback in the aftermath of the 1962 war.
