Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking has taken the decision to start “Feeder Bus Service” to help commuters, especially women connecting Metro and Mono rail to the railway stations, of all the three lines — Central, Western and Harbour.
Samajwadi Party group leader Rais Sheikh has written a letter, demanding to extend BEST feeder bus service for women. Rais believes feeder bus will be a great relief for commuters, especially women.
Meanwhile, the BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will give Rs600 crore, in six months to the BEST. The financial aid is for the transport wing to cover up the losses.
However, the BMC will extend the financial aid on certain terms and conditions. Now, the BEST will have to come up with good initiatives to woo commuters.:
