Mumbai : Mumbaikars might be inconvenienced on Saturday as the drivers and conductor of BEST undertaking are all set to revolt against the rota schedule. The drives and conductors will put forth their protest by not accepting the duty put up for the month of August at depots.

On Friday, 0nly 600 of the 3,000 who were allocated their duty schedules accepted it. BEST union leader, Uday Ambolkar said, “We will protest from August 1 which is when the revised rota schedule will be put in to effect. But if the employees are forced on Saturday to accept their duties then the BEST will not be able to function.”

According to the union leader, the BEST management did not improve the facilities for its drivers and conductors like providing them a better restroom. They further alleged that the BEST management before implementing the schedule across the depots had assured that a driver or conductor will not be deployed on multiple routes but nonetheless it had been practised.

“A letter written about the same to the General Manager of BEST Jagdish Patil has fallen on deaf ears as instead of calling us for discussing the matter the management has instead put up duty charts,” added Ambolkar.

Ambolkar further alleged that the BEST management did not appoint the committee which was to check the implementation of the rota schedule and take the feedback from the drivers and conductors despite being assuring the union of it.
