In a shocking revelation, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLC Amol Mitkari on March 9 claimed he heard a recorded WhatsApp call in which VSR owner VK Singh allegedly warned Pinky Mali’s brother to stay away from the media. Pinky Mali was travelling on the chartered aircraft alongside Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, who was also killed in the Baramati plane crash.

Mitkari made the claims after he visited Mali’s mother in the hospital, who was undergoing treatment for the past thirteen days. Mitkari also questioned remarks mentioning Ajit Pawar’s flight, saying the matter appears more complex than it seems.

In a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), Mitkari wrote, "We heard a recorded call in which VSR owner VK Singh threatened the brother to stay away from the media via a WhatsApp call. The language used by the pilot, “Ajit Pawar ne inke flight ko thok diya,” raises suspicion—does this indicate VSR's connection to the underworld? One thing is certain: this matter is not as simple as it appears on the surface. Our Dada has been wronged."

The day after Ajit Pawar’s nephew Rohit Pawar expressed suspicion over the nature of the crash and called for a thorough probe on February 10, Pinky's father Shivkumar Mali had also echoed similar concerns and demanded clarity on the exact cause of the incident.

Pinky Mali's family. Flight attendant Pinky Mali's mother, Maya, on Thursday, February 12, made an emotional appeal seeking justice over her daughter's death in the plane crash in Baramati. Speaking to ABP Majha, Shivkumar Mali had said that given the doubts raised by political leaders, the possibility of suicide or foul play should be investigated. The mother had also demanded justice around the plane crash that claimed life of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and four others on the flight.
