Aurangabad: Azam Shah, the son of Aurangzeb had built Bibi Ka Maqbara, as a memorial to his mother, which is the replica of the Taj Mahal in Agra. This was built in 1679, in Aurangabad. Historic monuments need constant care and this is an area that has been neglected. One among the long list of monuments in need of tender, loving care is Bibi Ka Maqbara. It has started turning black due to high pollution. The minarets have started chipping off, and blackened maqbara and faded design is what now remains of this historic monument.
Many tourists from all over the country visit this monument, which is part of Aurangabad’s identity. This monument is made of red and black stones along with marble and white sand. A few months ago, the Qutub Minar roof had eroded and the Taj Mahal has also been hit by pollution. People have been questioning the lapse by the departments concerned.
