Mumbai: Dadabhai Naoroji police on Friday cracked the murder case of Andheri woman, Asma Shaikh, whose semi-clothed body was found in the bushes of a deserted Gilbert Hill Road, Andheri (W) on January 19. The main accused, Jamir alias Allahrakha, 30, was arrested from Gulbarga in Karnataka after the DN Nagar police received information that Allahrakha, was in the hiding after killing Asma Shaikh and dumping her body in Andheri (W).
According to sources, the deceased Shaikh was spotted with her boyfriend Asif in Andheri (W), the night before her murder. Police had detained Asif and questioned him about Asma, but was later released, as they could not find anything fishy during the interrogation. The cops also learnt that Shaikh was in touch with Allahrakha on the same night before being murdered. Unfortunately, police could not reach Allahrakha, as he was at large.
The DN Nagar police traced him to Aurangabad, but he escaped when they reached there. When the cops realised he was one of the suspects, they kept a tab and finally got details of his whereabouts. They arrested him from his native place in Gulbarga, Karnataka. He was brought to Mumbai on Friday. According to police, Allahrakha had consensual sex with Asma after which they had a dispute, when he realised that `8,000 was missing from his wallet. Allahrakha confessed to killing Asma over money dispute. Allahrakha was produced in a court, which sent him to police custody till February 1.
