Mumbai may be thousands of kilometres from Kerala, but come Onam, the city knows exactly how to celebrate - with a banana leaf, a generous serving of rice and enough curries to make you forget you ever said, "I’ll just have a light lunch."
An Onam Sadhya is Kerala’s traditional feast, usually served on a banana leaf with around 20–30 preparations. Expect everything from avial, thoran, olan and sambar to tangy pachadis, pickles, crispy banana chips and papadam. The meal traditionally ends with payasam, with varieties such as Palada Pradhaman and Sharkara Adapradhaman bringing the feast to a sweet finish.
So, if you’re planning to experience the tradition this year, here are some Mumbai spots serving festive Sadhya spreads.
