Are you ready to break free from the usual vacation routine? In 2025, travellers are all set to redefine tourism with bold and unconventional journeys that foster deeper connections—with themselves, loved ones, and the destinations they explore.

A recent research involving over 27,000 travellers across 33 countries, highlights nine transformative travel trends poised to dominate the year ahead. Here’s what to expect as you plan your next getaway.

Noctourism

As space tourism comes closer to reality, 2025 will see travellers turning their gaze skyward. Dubbed "noctourism," this trend prioritises midnight travel over a daytime bustle. Activities like starbathing, constellation tracking, and witnessing cosmic events top the list for 62% of travellers.

Climate change concerns also play a role, with 54% planning nighttime adventures to avoid rising daytime temperatures. Beyond personal enjoyment, noctourism deepens connections with nature, with many opting for accommodations that limit light pollution, preserving ecosystems and offering an unparalleled view of the stars.

Passport to Immortality

Vacations are no longer just for relaxation—they’re becoming a gateway to longevity. In 2025, it is projected that 60% of travellers will be attracted to longevity retreats, where innovative wellness techniques take the place of temporary solutions.

These vacations will feature treatments like red light therapy and stem cell therapies, catering to the increasing desire for a longer, healthier life. With more than half of travellers willing to invest in vacation experiences designed to enhance their lifespan, 2025 marks the beginning of a new era in transformative travel.

AI = Alternative Itineraries

Artificial intelligence is set to revolutionise travel planning by 2025, offering personalised experiences that honour local communities. Two-thirds of travellers intend to use AI to discover authentic, less crowded destinations. AI trip planning tools will help them explore responsibly and avoid overburdened hotspots.

Interestingly, nearly half of the travellers prefer not to tag lesser-known locations on social media, helping to preserve their charm while still utilising technology to uncover hidden gems.

Multigen Megatrips

Spending Kids’ Inheritance (SKI) is gaining traction among older generations who prefer creating memories over saving for the future. In 2025, nearly half of the travellers, especially baby boomers, will prioritise family-inclusive trips funded by grandparents. This approach bridges generational gaps, helping families bond over shared experiences and helping alleviate financial burdens amidst rising living costs.

Boyz II Zen

Traditional "bro culture" vacations are giving way to men-only trips focused on mindfulness, mental health, and personal growth. In the upcoming year, male travellers will focus on relaxation and vulnerability over bravado, with nearly half supporting such trips for friends or family members. Encouraged by women in their lives, men are opting for experiences that foster genuine connections and tackle loneliness.

Ageless Adventures

Baby boomers are shattering retirement stereotypes by embracing thrill-seeking vacations. Next year, this adventurous demographic will opt for activities like trekking, skydiving, and even volcano boarding.

Adventure travel, once dominated by younger generations, is now becoming a space where boomers redefine what it means to grow older, proving that age is no barrier to excitement.

Neuroinclusive Navigation

Neurodivergent travellers are advocating for more accommodating travel options. By 2025, technology is expected to significantly ease travel anxiety by providing tools for real-time updates, quieter spaces, and sensory-friendly environments.

Nearly 70% of neurodivergent travellers support industry-wide initiatives aimed at seamlessly sharing their preferences, which will help create a more accessible future.

Vintage Voyaging

Sustainability and cost-consciousness are inspiring travellers to adopt thrift shopping abroad. Over half of the travellers plan to curate vacation wardrobes on their trips, visiting local thrift stores for unique, eco-friendly finds in the upcoming year.

Vintage voyaging incorporates cultural immersion with sustainability, making second-hand shopping a memorable part of the travel experience and a replacement for fast fashion.

The Gate Escape

Airports are evolving from mere transit hubs into destinations in their own right. By 2025, travellers are expected to view layovers as opportunities for extravagance, with Gen Z and millennials at the forefront of this trend.

Enhanced airport amenities, such as spas, Michelin-starred restaurants, and sleep pods, will make the journey as exciting as the final destination. In fact, over one-third of travellers now consider the quality of an airport's facilities when planning their trips, marking the beginning of a new era of pre-flight enjoyment.
