Classic Aam Ras Recipe

Prep time: 10–15 minutes

Serves: 2–3

Ingredients:

3 large ripe mangoes (Alphonso or Kesar for best results)

2–3 tablespoons sugar (optional, adjust as per sweetness of mangoes)

1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (elaichi)

A pinch of saffron strands (optional)

1/4 cup cold milk or water (optional, for consistency)

Method:

Peel and chop: Wash, peel, and roughly chop the mangoes. Discard the seeds.

Blend: Add the mango pieces to a blender. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron strands.

Adjust consistency: Blend until smooth. Add a little cold milk or water if the puree is too thick.

Chill & serve: Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes or serve immediately chilled with puris or as a refreshing drink.

Serving tips:

Traditionally served with hot puris in Maharashtrian and Gujarati homes.

Use it as a topping for shrikhand, phirni, or vanilla ice cream.

Freeze it into ice cubes or popsicles for a fun summer treat.

So the next time the heat gets too much, skip the store-bought juice and whip up a fresh batch of aam ras at home!
