Indore : Solving the murder mystery of 65-year-old man in his house on Saturday morning, the police have arrested four persons, including his son in connection with the murder.
One accused is still absconding and a search is on for him now. The murder was a result of the victim refusing to pay off his son’s debt by selling the house.
It may be recalled that Gamanlala Gehlot (65) a resident of Choice Colony was stabbed to death by some unknown assailants early on Saturday morning.
According to DIG Santosh Kumar Singh, as the police recorded statements of the family members, conflicting views emerged. Based on suspicion, the police brought son Lekhraj to the police station and questioned him.
Lekhraj broke down under intense questioning and admitted to hiring killers to murder his own father.
According to Lekhraj, he had started a business of house construction and selling of wood but suffered loss. He then joined a security agency in Pithampur as 30% partner but this business too failed to take off and gradually he sank into Rs 12 lakh debt.
As lenders began to press for money, Lekhraj suggested his father to sell off the house and shift to a flat in order to pay the debt. However, senior Gehlot refused and therefore Lekhraj resorted to contract killing and paid Rs 1.5 lakh to the killers.
Lekhraj hired an employee of his security agency, Kuwar Singh Saini (29) of Gurukul Colony, Rau, Mukesh Rai (20) also of Rau, Suraj alias Lucky (19) of Rangwasa and another to kill his father. He also paid Rs 45000 in advance to the men to carry out the job.
As per the plan on Saturday the trio came to the city and waited near Gehlot’s house. As Gehlot returned home after sweeping the temple, the killers stabbed him repeatedly. After the killers left, Lekhraj opened the almirah in the room to make it look like theft.
DIG Singh said that a shredded paper was found in the dustbin. It appeared to be a suicide note and the handwriting was recognized to be of Lekhraj.
Initially Lekhraj had planned to end his life on Hartalika Teej but then thought that since his father had lived his life and it would be easy to sell of the house after his death. Therefore he did not commit suicide.
Lekhraj, Kuwar Singh, Mukesh and Suraj have been arrested while a search is for one more accused. Kuwar Singh and Mukesh are employed at Tulsan Security agency while Suraj has cases of loot, thefts and illicit liquor trade registered against him.
