Jhabua (Madhya Pradesh): Collector and District Magistrate Dr Yogesh Tukaram Bharsat issued prohibitory orders under Sections 163(1) and 163(2) of the Indian Civil Defence Code, 2023, to maintain law and order and public safety. The order will remain in force from Aug 5 to Oct 5, 2026.
The administration said Jhabua's location along the Gujarat and Rajasthan borders results in a high movement of outsiders.
The lack of records of people staying in rented houses, hotels, guesthouses, and other accommodation creates difficulties during police investigations and security operations.
Under the order, landlords must inform the concerned police station before renting out houses or shops. They must also keep copies of tenants' valid identity documents.
Employers hiring domestic workers or commercial staff must also provide their details to the police.
Hotels, lodges, dharamshalas and guest houses must verify visitors' identity and submit a monthly list of occupants to the police. Online delivery companies and private security agencies must also share details of their employees with the concerned police station. Violation of the order will invite action under Section 223 of the Code.
