Indore : Precisely as it was expected, the Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) has decided to disown the initial results of Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) first year exams — which hit controversy following alleged irregularities in evaluation, and announce the revised results.

Members of examination committee met on Wednesday and recommended for release of revised results.

“The recommendations of the committee have been accepted. The results would be declared at the earliest,” Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Ashutosh Mishra said.

The initial results drew flaks from an unexpected quarter — exam committee chairman Abdul Kavi, who denied approving it saying that the answer books of four subjects were evaluated by one examiner.

Following his objection, the DAVV got answer books evaluated again but during the period of revaluation, the controversial results were “leaked” on the website of MPOnline, a service provider to DAVV, for a few hours.

The leak put the DAVV at a crossroads as students demanded to release the same results even as Kavi pushed for the revised results.

For past many days the DAVV has been holding meetings but no decision could be taken. On Wednesday, the DAVV finally decided to release the revised results with disowning the one which was leaked on the MPOnline.

The controversy: Al Farooq Unani Medical College incharge principal Salim Akhtar was handed over answer books of four subjects to get evaluated from teachers of subjects concerned but he himself evaluated all the four subject answer books.

Arbai is one subject which he has never studied but interestingly he had evaluated answer books of that subject as well.

Kavi had lodged an objection in writing with the university on such a controversial result after which answer books were evaluated again.
