Indore: Four people including a woman were arrested from Mumbai by the crime branch for supplying MDMA drugs in the city and other states, on Tuesday. The accused are associated with the earlier accused who were arrested with MDMA drugs worth Rs 70 crores in the city. The crime branch officials came to know that the woman accused was also in contact with some persons in the film industry.
Investigation is also being done to find a link of the drug suppliers with the Sushant Singh Rajput case.
DIG Manish Kapooria said that the crime branch had arrested four persons including a pharmaceutical firm owner of Telangana a few months ago. The firm owner and his driver were taking MDMA drugs to the city from Hyderabad and they were giving the delivery to two persons from the city when they were arrested. Then, the crime branch had seized the drugs worth Rs 70 crores from them. So far the crime branch has arrested 33 people in connection with the case.
The arrested are Salim Choudhary of Anna Nagar in Mumbai, Juber Halai of Yaar Road in Mumbai, Mehzabin Sheikh of Mira Road and Anwar Lal of Kurla in Mumbai were arrested from Mumbai.
Mehzabin allegedly told the crime branch officials that she used to supply MDMA drugs with Salim and Haider (arrested earlier) in Mumbai. She had met Kafil Khan (arrested earlier) of Ajmer during the same. Then, she started supplying drugs to Kafil. She used to buy drugs from some persons in Indore and used to deliver them in the pubs, bars etc with the help of peddlers in Mumbai. She also confessed to supplying drugs to some people in the film industry. The woman is addicted to drugs and she had broken the mobile phone SIM card to evade arrest. She used to talk to customers only on WhatsApp calls and with the help of a mobile phone application. She was with Salim in a live-in-relationship and she had also told Salim to supply the drugs.
Salim had contacts with some officers of Mumbai police so that he had made a Covid-19 pass and they used to come to Indore in a car showing that pass. Salim told the police that he was staying with Mehzabin and started supplying drugsfollowing her direction. He used to buy drugs from Indore and used to supply them in Mumbai and Gujarat in small quantities. Salim was also in contact with a journalist from Indore.
Accused Juber informed police that he is staying in Mumbai for about 30 years. He had started selling drugs after he came in contact with a person named Rayees (arrested earlier) in Indore. Anwar Lala used to sell drugs in some areas in Mumbai. Later, he met Mehzabin and then he started supplying MDMA drugs.
