Indore: While Congress is claiming that the state government is trying to shield the accused involved in the Nemawar massacre, BJP’s Rajya Sabha member Jyotiraditya Scindia here on Tuesday defended the government and said that the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government had acted swiftly in the case and no guilty person will be spared.

“Shivraj government has taken immediate action and arrested all accused and put them behind the bars. The guilty persons won’t be spared,” he told reporters.

Scindia, who was on a three-day tour of the Malwa-Nimar region, was in the city on Tuesday.

He paid tribute along with other BJP leaders at the statue of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syamaprasad Mookerjee on his 120th birth anniversary at Vijay Nagar.

Around 15 minutes before him, BJP national general Kailash Vijayvargiya had also paid tribute to Mookerjee at the same venue but the two could not meet.

Scindia said he has been meeting people of the state for the past 11 days to ascertain the damage Covid-19 pandemic had caused.

Describing himself as a public servant, he said, “A public servant should be with people in times of sorrow.”
