Two youths from UP and Vidisha were arrested by the joint team of the Crime Branch and Lasudia police station staff while they were carrying illicit liquor in the city, police said on Friday. The police also recovered 7 stolen bikes from them.
According to an official, acting on a tip-off, two persons on a bike were caught by the police while they were carrying illicit liquor to deliver it somewhere in the city. About 6 litres of liquor were seized from the accused.
When the police officers asked about the papers of their bike, they could not show the same. Later, they allegedly confessed that the bike had been stolen by them. Following a lead given by the accused, the police recovered six other stolen bikes. They informed the police that the bikes were stolen from Khajrana, Lasudia and MIG area of the city.
The accused were identified as Vishvanath Chouhan of Prayagraj and Biharilal of Vidisha. The accused were handed over to the Lasudia police station staff for further action. They are being questioned about other bike thefts in the city.
