Indore: Average salary hikes by 72 percent in six years

Indore: Despite volatile global market post-recession, Indian Institute of Management Indore did well in campus placements. The elite b-school in Indore not only managed to achieve 100 per cent placements but also witnessed a significant rise in average salary.

The IIM Indore saw a hike of Rs 8.66 lakh average salary per annum in last three years, which is about 72 per cent.  A study by Free Press over the last six years’ placement reports of IIM Indore revealed that institute made gradual yet significant increase in average salary.  The average salary for IIM Indore students was Rs 12.13 lakh per annum in 2014, which rose to Rs 13.9 lakh per annum in 2015, at the time when economy had just recovered.

In 2016, the premier institute witnessed average salary of Rs 15.67 lakh per annum, nearly Rs 1.77 lakh per annum to previous year whereas the average salary in 2017 stood at 16.23 lakh in 2017.  As Indian economy improved, the b-school registered an average salary of Rs 18.17 lakh per annum, which shot up to Rs 20.79 lakh per annum.  “The hike in average salary in 2019 was Rs 2.66 lakh per annum more than previous year,” said IIM Indore media coordinator Ananya Mishra.

Finance, sales and marketing are preferred domains
While finance remains the most preferred domain among IIM Indore students, sales and marketing is not far behind. As many as 26 per cent students in 2018 and 27 per cent students in 2019 opted jobs offered by finance companies. The percentage was 28 and 22 for sales and marketing in 2018 and 2019. The third preferred domain among students is consultancy, which also witnessed over 20 per cent of students taking up jobs from the sector. All other sectors witnessed below 10 per cent of job offers.
