Indore: 12,000 Amphotericin-B injections reach city

Indore: The city received 12,000 injections of Amphotericin-B from a pharmaceutical company in Himachal Pradesh on Friday for the treatment of patients infected with black fungus. Very soon another consignment of about 13,000 injections would be reaching the city.The consignment came from Himachal Pradesh to New Delhi by road and from New Delhi it was brought in a charter flight. In all, 34 boxes, each with 360 vials of Amphotericin-B injections were received at the airport on FridayOn this occasion minister Tulsiram Silawat, divisional commissioner Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma, AKVN MD Rohan Saxena and other officials were at the airport.

Minister Silawat said that the city would receive another big consignment of about 13,000 Amphotericin-B injections in the next few days.

Divisional commissioner Dr Sharma informed that after discussion with Dr Sanjay Dixit, dean of MGM Medical College and other doctors they will estimate the number of injections that would be required, and place orders with the pharma company accordingly.

AKVN MD Saxena and the team of dedicated officers were in constant touch with the company so that the injection could be received in a systematic manner.

He informed that out of the injections received today, about 4,000 injections would be given to MGM Medical College and the remaining injections would be distributed to private hospitals as per requirement.

At present, there are 532 black fungus patients in the district. Of them, 344 are admitted to government hospitals and the remaining are in private hospitals. Patients from 16 districts are receiving treatment for black fungus in various hospitals in the city.
