Kolkata: CID team on Wednesday visited Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s house at Contai to investigate the death of his security guard in 2018.

The CID team not just visited LoP’s house but also the building where Suvendu’s security personnel stayed along with other security guards and even spoke with Suvendu’s brother Divyendu Adhikari.

Anupam Chakraborty, a CID officer however refused to comment on anything and said that they will submit the report directly to court.

However, calling it a ploy to disturb the family, Divyendu said he will support CID, CBI on the case but sudden visit of police at their residence can be detrimental to his father’s health.

“I will appeal to the Central government to take a note on this as my father Sisir Adhikari is an aged person and anything can affect his health due to sudden visit of police,” claimed Divyendu.

West Bengal BJP spokesperson Shamik Bhattacharya said that the state government is purposely trying to malign the LoP as suddenly without state government’s provocation the police won’t search their probe.

It can be recalled that the deceased bodyguard Subhabrata Chakraborty’s wife, Suparna Chakrabarty last Wednesday had filed a complaint at Contai police station and the police started probe soon after that over the alleged suicide of former Transport Minister and now BJP Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari’s bodyguard’s death in 2018.

Almost after two and half years Suparna had lodged a FIR claiming that her husband didn’t commit suicide and was allegedly murdered.

“He was on duty. I was said that he had committed suicide. Instantly he was admitted to a government hospital in Contai and prior deterioration in health was shifted to a private hospital in Kolkata in an ambulance where he succumbed to death the next day. It was sheer negligence and its murder. Due to Suvendu being a heavyweight minister then could not say anything but now I want a proper probe,” said Suparna.
