Jaipur: BJP high command has told its leaders of Rajasthan BJP that the party will not tolerate arbitrary statements that put the party in a problem. "It’s enough. I have told the state leadership to prepare a list of such leaders. We will convince them and if they still don’t fall in line, the party will take action against them," said in-charge general secretary Arun Singh to the media after the party’s state executive council meeting on Tuesday.
Arun Singh who was on a two-day visit to Jaipur had given this message of party high command in the meeting also. According to sources, he said that such ‘bayan bahadur’ leaders put the party in a problem and hurt its prospects with their arbitrary statements and left and then we have to answer.
It is to note that Arun Singh’s statement has come at a time when the internal rift was getting momentum in the party. Some of the leaders who are believed to be the loyalists of former CM Vasundhra Raje were annoyed with the removal of Raje’s pictures from the posters of the party outside party headquarters in Jaipur and said that the party cannot ignore Raje as there is no alternative of Raje in Rajasthan.
Sources say that the party has taken these statements seriously as they came at a time when strong factionalism in the Congress was coming to the fore and BJP was making it a big issue, but such statements put the party in the dock also. ‘ party cannot afford to be seen divided at this time as it hurts party prospects and that is why high command has given a clear message to all the leaders to stay unite,’ said a party leader who wishes to remain anonymous.
