Jaipur: Amid the Ajmer Dargah controversy the Dargah Diwan Zainual Abedin has questioned the claims made in the petition accepted for hearing by Ajmer Civil Court.
Dargah is 800 years old. Tomb remained unbuilt for 150 years. There was no permanent construction, so how could there be a temple below the grave,' said Dargah Diwan to the media on Friday.
Elaborating the facts regarding Dargah he said that while passing the Garib Nawaz Act, in 1950, a commission was formed by the Government of India under the chairmanship of Justice Ghulam Hasan, sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court who went through all the documents regarding the Dargah. The report he presented is with the Government of India.
He said that in February 2002, the Government of India had constituted a JPC regarding the administrator and property of the Dargah. It was presented in the Rajya Sabha on December, 20th, 2002, which contains the complete story regarding the Dargah.
Appealing the people to remain calm on the issue, Dargah Diwan said, ' I appeal to the people to maintain peace and not do anything that could create controversy. We have the legal right to go to the court. We Will answer this in the court. Furthermore, we also have a panel of advocates.'
