After the over week-long political drama of statements and counter statements in Rajasthan Congress, the party has now come up with a sort of clarification and balancing act. Congress general secretary in-charge of Rajasthan Ajay Maken has said that Sachin Pilot is a star campaigner and an asset to the party while at the same time he taught a lesson of discipline to MLAs making statements against Ashok Gehlot government.
Talking to media in Delhi on Friday, Ajay Maken discarded reports of party high command not giving time to Sachin Pilot during his recent visit to Delhi. "Sachin is a senior leader of the party. It is not possible that he sought time to meet any leader and didn't get it."
He said, "Priyanka Gandhi is not in Delhi for ten days. So how could she meet Sachin, but she is in touch with him"
On cabinet expansion and political appointments, he said, "We are working on this and MLAs should understand that discipline will play an important role at the time of appointments so they should not say anything in public."
Sources in the party say that Maken’s statement is a clear indication that the party cannot afford to lose one more young leader, and hence has clarified the situation on the narrative which was made after Sachin’s much-hyped Delhi visit.
However, at the same time, party has given a message to dissidents that it is concerned about them, but they have to follow the discipline of the party.
